We use 100% natural soy wax for every William Alexander candle. Soy burns cleaner and slower than paraffin, meaning you get a longer, more consistent fragrance throw without the black soot marks on your walls or jar. It's also biodegradable and better for the environment — a small detail that matters to us.

How to Get the Best from Your Candle

1. Trim the wick to 5mm before every burn to prevent smoking and soot marks
2. On the first burn, let the wax melt pool reach the full edge of the jar (usually 2–3 hours) to prevent tunnelling
3. Burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time
4. Keep away from drafts, and burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface
5. Discontinue burning once around 1cm of wax remains in the base
6. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep out of reach of children and pets
